Yeppoon» Click Here for more information about Yeppoon
Yeppoon is the capital of the Capricorn Coast which lies in central Queensland near the regional city of Rockhampton. It is a popular holiday destination with its wide beaches, fantastic marina and offshore island archipelago. The town lies at the northern end of the Capricorn Coast and close to the Rosslyn Bay boat harbour and marina. To the north of Yeppoon is the magnificent Byfield National Park and a wilderness area around Port Clinton that is used by the armed forces for military exercises. The most popular place to stay is in one of the apartments along the oceanfront or many tourists come to stay at the Capricorn golf resort to the north of the town. This resort has an international reputation and there are two courses. The championship layout is of world standard. Just offshore from Yeppoon is the beautiful Keppel Islands. Great Keppel Island is the largest and home to two small resorts. In the past it has had a major resort which had become run down and has now been demolished. Plans are now waiting approval for a new resort that will incorporate a new boat harbour, marina and golf course as ancillary features of the new resort. As of mid 2010 plans are awaiting government approval after the first set of plans was rejected. Yeppoon has great shopping and lots of restaurants and cafes which give it a cosmopolitan atmosphere and it is a great place to come for a holiday. |
